After a brief discussion, we will continue reading "The Jilting of Granny Weatherall". After students read, they will complete a Graphic Organizer on Sequence of Events. Introduction

Graphic Organizer. ACT Practice Packet. Students will have their notebooks checked today. We will review the vocabulary for Alice Walker's "Everyday Use". We will add the following literary terms to our list: characterization and dialect. Students will record the events in "Everyday Use" on a storyboard and then we will discuss their answers from page They will then work with a partner to complete questions on page Storyboard GO.

When they are done, they will complete a graphic organizer Time Line for our short story. Students will get to work on their ballards with their partners for the first half of class. Then, they will present their ballads to their classmates. I will check notebooks today and students will complete an ACT practice packet and we will review their answers.

Afterwards, they will complete a Note Taking Guide for the two selections. We will discuss their answers from their Note Taking Guide. Students will review the requirements of their ballads that they are composing. They will work in pairs of 2 to do this project. Students will work with their partner on their original ballad. They will complete a journal entry. Journals will be graded. Holder We ek of: Oct. Students take a test on "Winter Dreams".

This test includes multiple choice, short answer and an essay component. Students will present their "My American Dream" Poster projects to their classmates. Demonstrate knowledge of early-Twenthieth Century foundational works of American literature. We will begin reading poetry by Ezra Pound after reading the bio on him. We will read the short bio on William Carlos Williams and several of his poems. We will answer discussion questions about the poems.
